Bring the garlic and ginger to the boil in 2 pints (1 litre) of cold water, and reduce heat to a simmer.
Simmer until the volume of water is reduced by half. Remove from heat, cool and strain out the garlic and ginger fibres.
Now you have your basic mixture, which you can store in the fridge until needed. When you get a blocked nose or sinuses, you need to drink 2 tbsp (30ml) of this three times a day.
Because of the taste, it's probably better to knock it back like a shooter, rather than sip it. You can also add lemon juice and honey to improve the taste.
Eat a handful of fresh parsley afterwards if you are worried about the aftertaste. (I find that since I eat so much garlic and ginger these days that my body processes it well, and I don't get 'garlic breath' problems.)
This worked so well for me when I first used it that my flatmates turned the unused portion into salad dressing!
